Big news for series collectors
What comes to mind when I mention Lord of the Rings, The Hunger Games, and Knuffle Bunny? Obviously: classic trilogies of literature.
As a reader, I’ve always found something special about the trilogy structure. With three books, an author has the space to explore a world more fully, spend more time with beloved characters, and revisit themes in new ways.
This is what I had in mind when my publisher and I first discussed expanding When Santa Wrote Back! into the Who Wrote Back series. With more than one book I could explore more aspects of Jake’s personality, tell more jokes, and—well, have more people write back.
And now I’m thrilled to give you a sneak peek of where that led: two sequels to When Santa Wrote Back!—both publishing this year.
When the Witch Wrote Back! (July 28, 2026) pits Jake’s desire to throw a Halloween party against his desire to not clean his room. Add in a witchy new neighbor (and the allure of chores made easy by magic) and the result is a Halloween gone wonderfully wrong.
When the Easter Bunny Wrote Back! (December 1, 2026) finds Jake becoming a little too determined to “win” the Easter egg hunt. The Easter Bunny decides to humor Jake’s every unwise wish for tips and tricks, and Jake discovers that getting exactly what you want isn’t always as sweet as it seems.
